Hello October!September and October FLEW by, and now we are already approaching Halloween! We have taken the last month and a bit to really get to know each other in the Kindercare Room! We have been doing a ton of exploring, both inside and outside! Snow in October? No Problem! The caterpillar group made the best of a crazy snow filled October Friday by bringing the snow inside to explore! The children made mini snowmen, and added some unique features with water colour paint! The ladybug group read a book called "What Do You Do With a Tail Like This?" which led us to some very interesting conversations! The children started moving around the room acting out different animals, comparing size, speeds and colour, along with doing some research about any unfamiliar animals that the children were curious about. This expanded to using the materials and toys in the room to create homes for these animals. This week we made playdough and brought out some loose parts to explore more about what animals need in their habitat to survive! Last but not least, PUMPKINS!!!! What better way to celebrate the Fall Season than exploring Pumpkins! We did a lot of cool things with the pumpkins such as carving them, exploring the feel of the insides of a pumpkin, making pumpkin volcanoes, and later comparing the sizes and weights of the pumpkins by observing them then making guesses whether each different size/shape would sink or float!
