When the weather isn't cooperating we adapt here in Kindercare! Even though our field trip had to be cancelled again we went for a walk to the park on Siddall.
We may have gotten a little bit wet but the children were able to get outside and get our big muscles moving and we were able to explore a new place in the community we had never been before. Some of the children enjoyed a game of tag while others played on the swings, sandbox and structure.

Cordellia spent hours building colorful towers and houses.
This one was her favorite out of them all. This week our snack time had a different view! We enjoyed snack with the company of a few ducks and a beautiful view. All thanks to the beautiful pond at Kildonan Park.
On Thursday, we made a jungle in the block area. It began with Yohanes playing with a snake and talking about where snakes live. Jen helped the kids set up plants and sort the animals into which ones belong in the jungle and which ones do not. Throughout the afternoon all the kids took turns playing with it.
This week the Kinders were exploring with pumpkins!
We did an experiment about what would sink and what would float. First the Kinders separated different objects into what they thought would sink and what they thought would float. Than we tested our theories by dropping the different objects into the water table. They were very surprised to see that the little pumpkins actually floated and that some of the sticks floated! The AM Kinders wanted to know why some pine cones were closed & why some were open.
They were shocked at the results! Ask them the next you are on a walk in nature with them. You might not know this but our window in Kindercare has been covered by plywood for many years!
This year is the first year it has been uncovered. We celebrated the beautiful light that this open window will bring to our classroom by purchasing a beautiful plant stand! The afternoon kinders along side Sara Mac helped construct it! The Morning Kinders are extremely excited about all the leaves on the ground.
This week was all about jumping into piles of leaves. Everyday they tried their best to make a pile that was bigger than the day before. This one was their biggest! Afternoon Group: Our first Winnipeg transit field trip to the Henderson Library. The kids each got to pick out a book to read at the centre and they really enjoyed the bus ride!
