Mini sticks club is up and running. It took a few weeks for the children to remember to bring their sticks but it did not last long. Soon I had a group of the children packing up their equipment bags to bring for the club a few days before so they would be ready. The club has been amazing! The team work I have seen over the last few weeks is truly moving to see. There are children from every grade in the club and they all work together extremely well. From helping one another put on their equipment to working together to make sure the teams are even and fair. Our team names are usually The Winnipeg Jets vs. The Windshield Wipers. They are a bunch of creative ones in this club.

Over four weeks, children who were in art, every Wednesday afternoon, had a lot of fun and busy learning different hand stitches; running stitch, back stitch, and whip stitch.
They made pillows, purses, bags, headbands, dolls, dog faces or cat faces, and blankets. They added different designs with different materials, and drew on them. Look how happy they were in making their own sewing projects. Welcome to our Zumba class, Every Tuesday morning Karla comes in and she gets us moving. The children and the adults really love her. She starts off with a warm-up and then she has us do a different song for each of the different exercises. We do some salsa dancing and we get into a big circle and everyone is encouraged to do their own style of dance and we each have to copy their moves. The favorite song to dance to is the Gummy Bear song. In between each set the children go for a drink of water. The children really enjoy the Freeze Dance and it gets every part of their body moving. At the end we all sit in a circle and have some cooling down time. -Vera
Welcome to Building and Construction where the children are currently into building and making houses. They are using different materials such as mats and magnetic blocks. We had a group of children playing school and others were playing house. The children are creative with the houses, some are big and small, with or without ceilings and all unique. -Charlyne
It's no secret that the kids at Dawn and Dusk have really good creative drive and imagination, so when a group of our grade 1 and 2 kids threw an impromptu Art Show in the Film Room one afternoon it was a hit! We had a lot of submissions, and the Monopoly Money was flowing into the hands of our artists. What a great afternoon!
- Jen Welcome to our science area! Science happens every Friday in the film room and it gives the children the chance to freely explore science and numeracy. We have staff guided activities as well as a shelf full of materials so that the children can explore on their own. Last week, we played with baking soda, vinegar and food colouring to create explosions. Some of the kids even tried their explosion to see what it tasted like, they were not fans of the flavour. We also had cornstarch and water so the children could explore solid and liquid states. This is a super easy and fun activity that will keep the kids entertained for hours, any questions ask Sarah K. Lastly, we had a measuring station so we could see who the tallest member of Dawn & Dusk. We measured in centimeters and next week we will encourage all the parents to measure on the same paper so that we can see who the tallest really is!
