Welcome to the Dawn & Dusk Dragon's Den, where all of the best Pine Tree inventors and entrepeneurs are here to show our very own "Dragons" their products, hoping they will be able to convince them to take their deals and give them the cash they need for their companies and products. First up, we have an inventor with their eco-friendly, multi-coloured hair clip for all genders to use. The hair clips are made from recycled materials and can add a fun splash of colour to your hair! This creative inventor asked for $125 for a 50% share of their company and our Dawn and Dusk Dragons couldn't refuse this deal! Next up we have another young inventor who wants to show everyone their concept for a new toy. With the ability to float in the air, this new toy is for anyone who loves to play or collect. This inventor left with $150 for a 50% of their company leaving the Dawn and Dusk Dragons happy that they made such a great deal. This Pine Tree entrepeneur wanted $9000 for a 25% stake in his company to create battlebots for the military. With the ability to "eliminate enemies" faster than any human soldier and detect any threats using top of the line sensor technology, our Dawn and Dusk Dragons refused to let this opportunity get away from them. The entrepenuer left with the biggest grin on their face, knowing that they had made a great deal for their product. Our last inventor did not get the chance to meet with our Dawn and Dusk Dragons, but this idea was too awesome to not share! They designed tattoos for shoes, so that you have the ability to customize your shoes with whatever design you want. This product works the same way a temporary tattoo would, but for shoes! They last two weeks and are stylish, fun and easy to use. Simply wet the shoe tattoo then press and hold against any shoe for 20 seconds to transfer your design. Our Pine Tree inventors had so much fun creating products and businesses, drawing inspiration from a young entrepeneur their own age who appeared on the tv show "Shark Tank". Seeing someone like them becoming successful motivated them to come up with amazing ideas. Who knows what our Pine Tree inventors will come up with next? On September 29th, the Pine Tree group helped show awareness for Truth and Reconciliation Day, also known as Orange Shirt Day, by making an orange flag and hanging this proudly on the fence in front of the school. In big letters the flag reads, “Every Child Matters”. We filled the flag with words that express what we are grateful for within our program. Children also wrote how they are grateful for the love and care they receive, the friends they’ve made, and the lessons they have learned. After writing their thoughts, they added their handprints and invited leadership and the educators of Dawn and Dusk to add their handprints as well. Pine Tree took pride in the flag they made and decided to make a shirt to fit onto the baby dolls we have at Dawn and Dusk. We worked together to tie dye a shirt orange, and then once dried, we filled the shirt with more words to show our knowledge and support to those affected by residential schools. The Pine Tree kids invited the Oak Tree group to come sign the flag and shirt they made while sharing things they've learned in school. In Indigenous culture, sharing stories and knowledge to younger generations is an important practice in keeping history alive throughout the years. Sharing this piece of my culture with the students of Dawn and Dusk was a heartwarming experience, and was a proud moment to see our children take a leadership role and have fun while doing so. - Carmen |
