The building and construction area has been busy these last few weeks with the children making AMAZING marble runs! The children have used their creativity and superior building skills to create long runs, short runs and tall runs. If they don't get the marble from the top to bottom on their first try they use their problem solving and figure out how to get it down to the bottom. But most of them have figured out how to get their marble from the top all the way to the bottom without the marble stopping.

Recently we added a new bin to our outdoor wagon which was made up of loose wooden parts, blocks and animals. There has been lots of talk about the new Jurassic World movie that has come out so, Jessica added logos from the movie to help expand the play of creating a dinosaur park. We even used the iPhone and put on Jurassic World music to help make the park feel more real!
In housekeeping, a group of kids and I used sand to make pies and cakes. I came up with this idea because I observed the kids pretending to be cooking and baking with the sand. A group of girls and I played hoop scotch. The kids like this game and competing with each other so they could show their skills.
Everyone Outside
This week we played in the sand box. The children were having a lot of fun, the boys were digging for clay and the girls where covering their feet in the sand. It's officially summer and it is HOT! The kids have started building tarp city and tents to keep them cool. The children use bungee cords and ropes to attach the tarps to the trees. Inside the tents we color. relax, play games and hang up hammocks.
The children were outside for Art this morning and we were playing with Bubber. Bubber is soft and marshmallow like and it does not stick or stain. You can use it over and over again. We took out some shaping tools and rolling pins and the children started to create. They enjoyed the feel of it in their hands and it was great fun to play with.
All of the warm weather recently has brought out several different kinds of bugs including caterpillars and flies. This has fascinated the children and have inspired them to go on bug hunts in the forest. While searching we found bugs on sticks, leaves, and even ourselves. Some of the caterpillars were placed in a bin for the children to have a closer look at with magnifying glasses. At the end of the morning they were let go for us to find another day.
Today we went to the forest, thanks to the weather it was beautiful outside. We started playing the game hide and seek, however the children changed the game and wanted to climb the trees. While climbing they called themselves Kings of the Jungle and super heroes. Some of the children took a tarp and put water on it since it was windy they called it a sprinkler.
We had a nice day outside so I planned a fun game of frisbee golf . We had a nine hole course made out of pylons with numbers on them. As you can see it was different and interesting. The children got to challenge their fine motor skills by controlling where the frisbee went.
Outdoor Activity. A group of kids and I played Jacks and blew bubbles. I chose this game because the girls are not familiar with playing Jacks and they were interested to learn. The kids like to blow the bubbles at each other and catch them. It went well and the kids had fun.
