The Dawn and Dusk kids talk about anatomy...The Dawn and Dusk kids gathered around a huge piece of cardboard and used google to help guide their learning. The children traced a body, and from there they drew the internal organs and vascular system. Bones and muscles will be added this afternoon. We talked about the different functions of the systems and why they had suck funny words. Come check out the Dawn and Dusk hospital for the finished project!
Building and Construction has been full of discovery and imagination! The kids have been exploring different uses for boxes and cardboard tubes. Elliott, Cordelia and Liam loved hiding in the boxes and pretending that they were houses. Noah W and Kayla S were discovering how many cars could fit into a full tube and then used it as a tunnel. Ruby and Noah D put animals into their tubes and then rolled them to see which animal would pop out first. Chase had quite the elaborate marble run build with the tubes he was using. See for your self in the pictures below the stages of construction that his project went through and the excitement of a trial in the video. On observation these past two weeks, we've noticed increased interest in a type of building block that has track like groves and holes. Marbles had been introduced in the past and small puzzle runs had been formed to allow the marbles to run, fall and change any desired direction. Well, the marble sensation has returned so we've decided to take it to new heights...literally. Day by day, groups would form and construction began. As time progressed, group numbers would increase and so would the amount of blocks included in their designs. Each day we would add something new for them to expand their imagination. First we brought in wrapping paper tubes, then carpet roll tubes. Before you knew it, a system of piping would wrap around the gym. Then cups were added and bottoms cut out to form funnels to keep the marbles rolling on. Next saw pylons for added height and even a larger funnel when turned upside down. In the coming days, we will continue the children's need for expanded creativity. Staying on track to find new ways to reinvent an old idea, one marble at a time. -Andrew & Vera Music allows children to express themselves in a differnt way. On Tuesday musical intruments were provided for the children to explore and express themselves through music. Rhythm activites were also planned which encouraged the children to listen to one another and to follow the pattern that was made.
We had a great day! We had rocks and rings join us in the morning and different stations set up in the afternoon.
We had sensory tables in the film room, dodgeball games and different tag games in the gym and a watercolour project that Deborah facilitated in the art area. You can see the finished project on the bulletin board by boards! Check out these photos: This week in the gym we played 3 games. They were called Tic Tac Toe, Frisbee Tag and Beach Volleyball. The children were working on their team work skills and having fun being active.
