A Puzzling Day At Dawn & Dusk

  Our most recent inservice had us all racking our brains and we had the theme of puzzles to blame. We set out with four mind bending stations that would challenge varying problem solving skills. The first station was a room full of different sized floor puzzles. The second, a room full of coded messages that if answered correctly, open locked boxes around the room full of hidden surprises. We then moved on to the gym where the children designed puzzling mazes out of all the gym mats. Lastly, our fourth station sent us adventuring outside to the forest. This final task had us racing amoungst the trees in search of hanging cards that included both letters and pictures. The children had a message in picture form and to solve the phrase they had to match the picture with the letter it contained on the hanging cards. It was a day that certainly kept our minds occupied and would reveal the incredible fun that puzzles contain in their many different forms.
