Every now and then the Educators are moved into different groups, for the purpose of variety for both us and the kids. So the new Club 4/5 Educators are myself & Kat! Immedietly we picked up on the creativity of this group, with their sewing projects, paper airplanes, drawings and sculpting with modeling clay. One morning we provided jars of coloured water, paint brushes, pipettes, and a specialty paper thats typically used for charcoal drawing. We quickly discovered that watercolor paints don't really absorb into this paper. The color blobs jiggled and shimmered as the kids created patterns and rainbows. We provided clear water for them to create new hues and shades from the standard 7 colors of the rainbow. Teal, aquamarine, soft orange and deepest of greens. And then, something really neat happened! One of the children took a piece of watercolor paper and laid it overtop of her patterned droplets. Super cool! Soon, every artist at the table was transferring their droplets onto watercolor paper, with beautiful results each time! What a cool surprise art activity! Stay tuned to see what else we'll be up to! - Jen & Kat
