Kids always seem to want to mix stuff up; Game pieces, paint, berries from the trees - whatever they can! With this in mind, we asked parents for any spices or teas they could donate for a mix, mash, and mush activity. We ended up with a lot of different tea and some essential oils. A popular tea for this activity was a fruit explosion flavor. One of the kids mixed it with just the right scented oil and created an incredible smell! The Educators provided a small dish of coffee grounds to cleanse our smell pallet. Almost immedietly it was being added into scent creations. One child mixed coffee grounds, macha tea, and pepprmint oil. Her signature scent turned out to be chocolate mint! We provided strips of fabric, intended to make satchels of smells. The liquid concoctions were added to pieces of fabric drop by drop, and the results were pretty good! By the end of this activity, we were all needed to step outside for a breath of fresh air! The new smells may fade after some time, but the memories we made today will last so much longer! - Jen, Kat & Justin
