Every Friday we like to wrap up our week by making a little music together. We've got a variety of instruments to offer like hand drums, bells, and tambourines. In these clips, the kids are playing along to the song "Count on Me" by Bruno Mars, In the other clip, one of our talented kids is playing a little melody by ear. At this rate, we'll be dropping the hottest new album of 2020 by Christmas!

Our team member Alyssa brought her choreography skills to Club 4/5 recently and taught us a few moves to one of our favorite tunes, "Can't Stop The Feelin" and we can't stop feeling good about dancing at Dawn & Dusk!
We've been having such a good time together before and after school with no shortage of things to do no matter what area we're in! Chess, art, fort building, and baseball or basketball - we're working our bodies & brains every day!
Dawn and Dusk is back and better than ever! With the children sorted into two groups, we now have Club 4/5 every day, and it has been pretty great. Thanks to the wonderful September weather we've been outside every day so far before and after school, and the kids are loving it. Everything we can do indoors, we do outdoors, with great benefits to the children like: morning exercise to clear our minds and prepare for the day (much like adults going to the gym before work), watching the flocks of geese soar over us each morning, waking up with the wildlife and having breakfast while watching the sunrise, engaging conversations in the quiet of the forest, and of course all that fresh air!
Our afternoons outside always bring a lot of excitement with the kids ready to unwind after sitting in a classroom all day. They've been doing art inspired by the bold fall colors, playing soccer, using pool noodles to play tag without getting too close to one another, and playing hide & seek. We're always open to bringing items outside that we typically use indoors and this year especially we'll be expanding on this practice. We know it's been a bit of an adjustment, getting back into the swing of things, but the educators at Dawn & Dusk are committed to ensuring your children are safe, healthy, and happy each day they're in our care. Club 4/5 has reached new heights in pie face battles. The 3.0 version has arrived at our doorstep and we took no time setting it up. This version has the players stand in place while another player uses a hammer to hit a target. As this target is hit, it jumps to activate the hand release... Wham! Now gather around the table, shake up that whip cream and away we go. It's hammer time!
Club 4/5 has entered a new chapter in the pie face competitions. We have stepped up to another version of the game in which two players compete against each other instead of the original solo version. Time to see whose got the quicker hand. Go!
Slime making has always been a top request in 4/5 and the day has finally come. As the ingredients come together, so does the excitement for their final slime creation. All that twisting, pulling and shaping with an added dash of color sees the slime take it's new form. Another successful idea conquered in 4/5. What will we think of next?
Last week we had special guest Kay in 4/5 to help us create some plaster mix. After selecting the desired molds, they each poured their mix into the molds where we let them set for the weekend. As Monday arrived, so did the paints to provide some fantastic color designs. We are very happy that Kay could help us make such wonderful art pieces. - Andrew
Our newest creative venture has been in the form of totem poles. Supplied with a few colorful bits and pieces, the 4/5s have put together some very fun and inventive variations. This activity was sure exciting to try and provided a few laughs along the way. - Andrew
