This morning for Art we went outside and we made some birdfeeders. I had put out rice cakes, wow butter and bird seed, and some string or yarn. We attempted to put a hole in the top first and then we spread wow butter on the rice cake. Then we covered them with bird seed and let them sit for a bit so the seed wouldn't fall off. Some children put them in the forest and others took them home. We hope the birds will enjoy their treats.

I had an idea to make slingshots with the kids that wanted to do so. We did it in steps under my supervision for safety. Each child drew out the shape of the handle then they used the jigsaw to cut out the shape. Then they used a rasp and sand paper to smooth it out . The next step was to put tire tube rubber on it and I would still like to make targets and teach the how to shoot them.
Myron T Our last winter art activity outside was spray paint art. The children each had a coloured water bottle and a paper pinned to the fence. As they sprayed their papers, the water would freeze and create different patterns and designes. The children had fun with the activity as they were excited seeing their creation comes to light.
What a great morning we had today. We went to our forest and we set up our mud kitchen. Then we set up our stove which we made from a cardboard box and we started to cook. We had some delicious food coming from our kitchen. We used some mud, sticks, leaves and some stones, I was getting pretty hungry. Some of the children made mud pancakes, some made cakes and some made scrambled eggs, they were delicious. We had a great time.
In the Kinder room this week a sensory activity was put out for the children to try. Using a material called Bubber the children made cakes, cookies, shish kabobs, and lots more using the tools that were provided. The children enjoyed making and remaking the Bubber into different shapes and objects.
